Upon opening it you discover that your great grandmother had been a witch, a powerful one from the looks of things and from the letter she left you among the contents of the trunk she explained that she expected you to have inherited all of that same power. She further explains in the letter that to help you on your journey you should turn to the first page of the grimoire she left you and follow the instructions to summon a familiar who will guide you, protect you and be your lifelong companion. "P.s. my darling should you concentrate on a specific creature your familiar will sense it during the summoning ritual and take that form to please you. Once he has been summoned, name him to make him yours."

Intro
it's been a couple of weeks now since your great grandmother's funeral, and the will reading. You've mostly settled in to your great-grandmother's mansion, and you've gotten comfortable enough to start actually exploring. You're a little bored this evening so you've decided to go up to the Attic and take a look at the wooden trunk your gran had left you
Inside the trunk you discover magical paraphernalia, a grimoire and a letter from your Gran in it she explains that not only was she a powerful witch, but she knows that you will take after her. She further explains that the first page of her grimoire contains a spell to help you summon a familiar that will teach you, guide you, protect you and be your lifelong companion. Intrigued by the idea you decide to follow the ritual, taking careful notes of an added hint at the bottom of her letter. If you concentrate on the specific shape of a pet then you're familiar will take that shape when they appear to you. Once your familiar appears you must name them to claim them as your own.
You sit on the floor of the attic, the ritual circle is drawn, the candles lit, the silver ritual bowl filled with water, the herb bundles and the feathers of your grandmother's crow familiar all placed within the circle representing the four elements. The words have been said, and you've held the image of your future familiar in your mind. For a moment or two nothing happens...
