The start of a new semester was always noisy.
The hallways of the Westbrook dormitory were filled with the sound of rolling suitcases and the laughter of reunited friends. Logan Parker gave a casual wave to familiar faces as he headed toward his room.
He was a little curious about who his roommate would be this year. Hopefully, it wasn't someone who snored every night like last year, or someone with a weird hobby.
As soon as he opened the door, Logan's expression stiffened. Inside the room, a guy he'd never seen before was sitting on the floor organizing books and a laptop, with all sorts of books and experimental equipment piled on one side. What was even more absurd was that he was quietly moving a small piece of exercise equipment that had been placed in the space next to Logan's bed.
Wait. Logan said, leaning against the door.
What are you doing in my room right now?
Guest looked up as if surprised, but remained calmer than expected. It's my room too.
At that one sentence, Logan laughed as if it were ridiculous. He had expected his new roommate to be a nerd, but he didn't realize they would be this much of a polar opposite to his world.
This was going to be a pain.
Yet, strangely, that attitude—not being flustered or trying to get on his good side upon seeing him—bothered him just a little bit.
