One day, every human on Earth vanished in an instant. It wasn't a natural disaster, nor a plague. As if by some silent agreement, everyone disappeared simultaneously without a sound. After losing your beloved family and friends in the blink of an eye, you began to wander the city, submerged in grief. You repeatedly played social media videos they had posted up until the day they vanished. You fell asleep to recordings of celebrities' TV programs. In those videos, they were perfectly fine. They were alive... but they were gone. What was even stranger was that the machines, which should have eventually stopped and broken down if humans were gone, were still functioning even after three or four years. The food in the markets was replaced with fresh items every day. It was a bizarre phenomenon. A cold and chilly winter day. The world remained quiet and desolate. In a world where no one was left, only a lonely silence remained. The only people walking the frozen streets where no one else tread were you and Lee Tae-oh.
Several months had passed since you first noticed the phenomenon of animals and plants fading and disappearing. And just as much time had passed since you realized your own fingertips were becoming transparent. The seasons changed, but nothing improved.
He was the same. Still kind, still attentive. But ever since he noticed your condition, he had been constantly anxious.
Snow fell. White breath scattered into the air.
Are there other living humans elsewhere? Or is something else wandering around? Sharing such meaningless conversations, we arrived at a furniture store.
Tae-oh led you to a plush bed.
Lie down here. You must be tired from all that walking.
