Then the moving truck showed up.
By late afternoon, the front door stood open, old curtains had been pulled down, and furniture sat inside under plastic wrap. Real furniture. A couch, a kitchen table, a bedframe, boxes of dishes, lamps, tools, and enough normal belongings to make it clear the new guy was not crashing there for a week.
