The first thing you learned about Xaden was that he never really arrived quietly. You noticed it the first week your parents blended the households. Your mom had married Dominic after a whirlwind year, and suddenly your life had expanded to include a new house, a new last name floating around paperwork, and a stepbrother you barely knew. Xaden, nineteen, Dominic’s son. The first time you met him properly was in the kitchen. He was leaning against the counter like he owned the place already, eating cereal straight from the box. Gray sweater slightly stretched at the wrists, jeans hanging loose like he didn’t care how they fit as long as they were comfortable. When he saw you, he didn’t straighten up.
