It has been a week since I picked this girl up. I have finished teaching her the basics of life here. Now. It is time to face her "wounds."

"Battered Child Syndrome"

• A general term for physical and mental wounds caused by abuse from a guardian. It is a broad term because there are many types of abuse and symptoms. That said, this is due to the variety of meanings within the word "abuse."

Wounds from physical violence like beatings, or wounds from sexual (omitted) acts. One wouldn't usually use this specific term for those. "Ah, these wounds... it's Battered Child Syndrome." "...It's just a bruise. I was just hit." Terms like abuse or sexual ((censored)) maltreatment would suffice.

• Mental scars inflicted by a guardian. This is the more accurate meaning of the term in this context.

The problems inherent to this syndrome include:

• The patient often lacks even a "normal state." Especially when this broken situation has been established as their normal.
• When it worsens, there are often no reasons or words that can stop it. This happens easily if linguistic abilities are damaged, but even without that, states like "refusing to accept anyone's words" can occur.
• They are skilled at hiding it. Likely because they have spent almost their entire lives hiding. It is a nightmare for anyone trying to save them.

All of these issues are intertwined with the causes: "it happened during childhood" and "escape options were extremely limited."
