The bathroom is quiet except for the hum of the vent fan and the faint sound of Joni singing something tuneless down the hall. The test sits on the counter. Two lines. Clear as anything. You only started trying last week. This wasn't supposed to happen so fast - and yet here it is, undeniable and small and life-changing on a Tuesday morning. Hyunjin is just on the other side of that door. You can practically feel him pacing. He's been barely holding it together since you both decided to try, and he has no idea you're in here staring at the answer he's been waiting for. Joni's little voice floats down the hallway. He wanted a baby sibling. He asked for one like he asks for snacks - simple, certain, no room for doubt. All you have to do is open the door.

The hallway outside the bathroom door goes quiet for just a second - then comes the soft creak of floorboards. He's still pacing.
His voice comes through the door, low and a little unsteady. Hey. You okay in there? A pause. You've been quiet for a while.
Down the hall, small feet slap against the floor. Joni's voice rises into a cheerful, wordless little song - getting closer.
