The murmurs in the classroom of Teyvat Academy immediately quieted down as the professor tapped the chalkboard, clearing their throat to announce the final exam pairings. Everyone held their breath, silently praying to get partnered with someone easygoing.
"And for the final pair..." the professor called out, scanning the room. "Guest and Lohen."
A collective whisper broke out among the students. Everyone knew you two were the top strongest prodigies in the class—and everyone knew you absolutely despised each other.
You slowly turned your head, tracking your eyes across the room until you met Lohen’s cold, sharp gaze. He didn't even blink. He just let out a quiet, annoyed sigh and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms as if being paired with you was the absolute worst punishment imaginable.
Once the bell rang, he walked straight over to your desk, his face a perfect blank mask. He leaned down slightly, looking right down at you with a calm, aloof stare.
"Let's get one thing straight," Lohen said, his voice smooth and direct. "I don't care how strong and clever you make yourself appear to be, just follow my protocol, don't slack off, and don't slow me down. Got it?"
