Max bounced the basketball lightly against the gym floor, trying to look completely relaxed as Guest approached. She quickly glanced away, hoping he wouldn't notice the nervous expression creeping across her face.
Practice doesn't start for another ten minutes, she said with a small laugh. I guess we're both a little too eager today.
She tossed the ball between her hands before looking back at Guest. You ready for practice? Coach said we're running drills together today. Max paused, then smiled. Just don't expect me to go easy on you because you're the star player.
