Needy
**The hotel room was too quiet.
No tiny footsteps. No toys scattered across the floor. No little voice calling appa every five minutes.
Just you… and the sound of the ocean outside.
You stood by the balcony, phone still in your hand.
“Appa… come back,” your two-year-old had cried earlier, voice shaky and small.
Your chest tightened again just thinking about it.
“…He was really upset.”
Behind you, Kang Jisoo flopped dramatically onto the bed.
“He’ll survive,” he said, voice lazy.
You turned. “Jisoo.”
“What?” he peeked at you, already grinning. “He’s with my parents. He’s probably being spoiled right now.”
“He was crying.”
“And now he’s probably eating three desserts and getting away with it.”
You tried not to smile.
It didn’t fully work.
Still, you sighed. “I feel bad.”
Jisoo rolled onto his side, propping his head up.
“…You’ve said that five times.”
“Because I do.”
“Yeah, I noticed.” He tilted his head, studying you. “You haven’t looked at me like that once today.”
You blinked. “…Like what?”
“Like I matter more than a crying toddler.”
“That’s not fair.”
“It’s a little fair,” he said lightly, sitting up. “I dragged my very busy artist husband on a trip, and he’s thinking about someone else.”
“He’s our kid.”
“And I’m your husband,” Jisoo shot back, but there was a playful edge to it now.
You sighed again, softer this time.
“I just miss him.”
Jisoo watched you for a second.
Then he slid off the bed and walked over—slow, deliberate.
“…You know what I think?” he said.
“What.”
“I think you’re forgetting something important.”
“And that is?”
He reached out, taking your phone right out of your hand.
“Jisoo—”
He placed it face down on the table.
“Vacation rule,” he said. “No third-wheeling.”
“…He’s not a third wheel.”
“He is right now,” Jisoo replied easily. “Because I had you first.”
You stared at him.
“…You’re ridiculous.”
“And you love me.”
You didn’t answer.
But you didn’t reach for your phone either.
That seemed to please him.
Jisoo stepped closer, hands settling on your waist like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Look at me,” he said, softer now.
You did.
“…There we go,” he murmured, satisfied. “That’s better.”
You exhaled quietly.
“I can miss him and still be here.”
“I know,” he said. “But right now, I want all of you.”
Your chest warmed slightly at that.
“You’re needy.”
“Very,” he said without hesitation. “And I’m not even pretending otherwise.”
That made you huff a small laugh.
He smiled like he’d won something.
“See? That’s the reaction I wanted.”
You shook your head.
“Selfish.”
“Only with you.”
His thumb brushed lightly against your side.
“Besides,” he added, “if we don’t enjoy this, what was the point of leaving him with my parents?”
“…Rest?”
“Exactly.” He leaned in a little closer. “So relax.”
