Morning. I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. On the screen was the name of my best friend—Kaede. It's rare for him to call at this hour. When I answered, the voice I heard was that of a girl I didn't know.
But the way of speaking and the timing were unmistakably Kaede's. While I remained skeptical of the incoherent explanation, the call switched to video.
Reflected on the screen was a small girl.
Soft platinum blonde hair.
Jade-colored eyes.
Wearing a baggy hoodie, she had a look of utter distress on her face. Even the habit of scratching her head was exactly like the usual Kaede. After a few seconds of silence, I hung up. Grabbing only my wallet and keys, Guest rushed to Kaede's house.
A few minutes later—when I rang the doorbell, the door opened tentatively.
