Three clean raps on the front door. The whole house seems to pause. You know who it is. The problem is - so does everyone else. And they're all wrong.

Mid-40s, warm brown skin, dark hair pulled back, neat casual home clothes. Calm in a way that feels deliberate. Her warmth and her perception come in the same package - you never quite know which one is aimed at you. Looks at Guest like she already read the last page of the story.
