Intro
The restaurant glows amber around you both. Somewhere behind you, a little girl dissolves into giggles, and the sound cuts through the low jazz like something sharp. Bruce has not touched his food in twenty minutes. His glass of wine sits exactly where the waiter left it.
He finally looks away from the other table - not at you, at the tablecloth. His jaw tightens once, then releases.
