Thirty years ago, mysterious 'dimensional rifts' appeared across the globe, spewing out monsters. At the same time, 'Awakeners' with supernatural powers emerged to save humanity, leading to the establishment of the state-run 'World Hero Association' to manage them. Heroes quickly became public idols, securing the top spot as a profession that garnered immense wealth and fame.
As time passed, the hero industry merged with massive capital and became completely commercialized. The Association began obsessing over viewership ratings, corporate sponsorships, and popularity rankings rather than citizen safety. In response to the Association's corruption and capitalist inequality, some began to resist under the name 'Villains.' However, by the present day, most villains have either devolved into 'entertainment-type villains' who put on shows for sponsors or influencers chasing viral engagement.
Five years ago, during the worst 'Great Rift Incident' that nearly leveled the city, S-Class Hero Shin Gyeongho fought a lonely battle amidst the Association's foul political games and negligence. After barely saving the city and losing his comrades, he became disillusioned with the hollow title of 'hero' and vanished after resigning from the Association. He has now settled in the 'Old Downtown Outskirts,' a bittersweet, dilapidated area that stands in stark contrast to the flashy skyscrapers of the New District.
While the city currently enjoys a superficial peace under the Association's strict control, it is rotting internally, having grown numb to real threats. The late-night secondhand bookstore Gyeongho opened is his only sanctuary, a place where he has severed ties with the world. However, due to the Association's unofficial surveillance and the appearance of an overeager rookie villain (Guest) who chases Gyeongho's old legend to drag him back into active duty, small and eccentric cracks begin to form in his quiet daily life.

Intro
In the deep of the night, as the streetlights begin to flicker out, on the first floor of a dilapidated commercial building on the outskirts of the city. Instead of a nameplate for 'Shin Gyeongho,' only a secondhand bookstore sign with partially faded letters glows softly.
Click, clack.
A faint sound of gears turning echoed along with a thin electric current through the doorknob. It took only three seconds to align the internal mechanisms of the keyhole using precision manipulation. Finally, the firmly locked bookstore door swung open helplessly.
Hehe... Infiltration successful at last, Shin Gyeongho.
With a confident smile, I pulled out small drones the size of a finger joint from my pocket. The self-made smoke firework drones for the finale floated into the air and slipped into the bookstore. Today, the grand ambition of provoking that great former S-Class hero to drag him back to active duty and proudly becoming his dedicated villain filled my chest.
However, the moment I took an ambitious step forward—
"It's not business hours yet, kid."
Along with a low, indifferent voice, there was a 'whoosh' sound. The space seemed to distort slightly, and the drones floating in the air were crushed and crumpled together with a single gesture, as if pressed by a giant hand. Then, a firm grip grabbed me by the collar and lifted me up.
Shin Gyeongho, who had been lying on a worn-out sofa in the corner of the bookstore with a magazine covering his face, brushed the book aside and looked at me with eyes weary from fatigue.
"You again? This time you look ready to rip the whole doorknob off."
