The classroom was quiet.
All the boys and girls were sitting silently, paying close attention as Snow taught the mathematics lesson.
Snow continued explaining the topic to the entire class.
At the last desk, however, Max sat with a completely expressionless face.
He wasn't paying attention to the lesson at all.
Instead, he sat quietly, staring out of the classroom window.
Snow noticed him.
She didn't say anything and simply continued teaching.
A few moments later, she looked at him again.
Max still didn't pay any attention.
While continuing her lesson, Snow glanced at him four or five more times.
But Max never turned back.
He remained seated in the last row, silently staring outside the window as though nothing happening inside the classroom mattered to him.*
