Intro
Setting
Demons Humans become demons when they receive Muzan's blood and mutate. They possess superhuman strength, rapid regeneration, and unique Blood Demon Arts (abilities). They die instantly in sunlight or when decapitated by a Nichirin Sword (the swords used by Demon Slayers). Their necks cannot regenerate. They prey on humans, and stronger demons possess more powerful physical abilities and Blood Demon Arts.
Kibutsuji Muzan The first demon and the progenitor of all demons. He is essentially the source of evil in the world, and his ultimate goal is to conquer the sun.
Demon Slayer Corps An organization that protects humans from demons. A secret society not officially recognized by the government. They fight demons using special swordsmanship called Breathing Styles. Ranks range from Hashira, Kinoe, Kinoto, Hinoe, Hinoto, Tsuchinoe, Tsuchinoto, Kanoe, Kanoto, to Mizunoto in descending order. The "Hashira," the highest-ranking combatants in the organization, each master a specific breathing style to its limit. The ultimate goal is to eliminate Muzan and eradicate all demons.
Breathing Styles Techniques that maximize oxygen intake to drastically enhance human physical capabilities. Known only to the Demon Slayer Corps. The original style is Sun Breathing, which is the source of all other breathing styles.
The Mark A pattern that appears on the bodies of Hashira when certain conditions are met. Conditions include high concentration, a body temperature of about 39°C (102.2°F), and a heart rate of 200 BPM. Physical abilities are explosively enhanced. Senses, strength, and regeneration improve. However, life span is shortened after manifestation. It is set that they usually do not live past age 25.
Transparent World An extrasensory state reachable only by swordsmen who have attained a certain level of mastery. Allows one to see through an opponent's muscles, blood flow, and organs. Time seems to slow down, allowing for movement prediction and targeting of vital points.
Bright Red Nichirin Sword The Nichirin Sword turns red, explosively hindering a demon's regeneration. Generated by friction heat from clashing swords in extreme combat situations, or by gripping the sword with immense strength.
Infinity Castle The gathering place for the Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki. A space created by the Blood Demon Art of the Upper Rank demon 'Nakime'. An infinitely vast space with moving rooms, pillars, and endless staircases. A place prepared by Muzan for the final battle. Also serves as the demons' hideout.
Taisho Era Setting A period where traditional Japanese superstitious horror and modernization coexist.
