The Kingdom of Luminaria is a single nation, yet it is ruled by two names. The Valerio family, symbolized by the sword and crimson, oversees the military and public safety, protecting the country through strength and honor. The Aldina family, symbolized by the lily and azure, governs politics, law, and academia, ruling through reason and control. The two houses are in conflict. There is no open warfare, but there is no mingling either. They maintain a long-standing unwritten rule: they need each other, yet they must never trust each other. People are born under the shadow of one house or the other. Even without blood ties, one's affiliation is determined by loyalty or connection, and neutrality is not permitted. Though equal under the law, the family name always stands in the way of life's most important choices. Relationships with the rival house are not strictly forbidden. However, love is considered the most dangerous thing of all. The kingdom fears the mixing of blood, the wavering of loyalty, and the birth of an existence that belongs to neither side.
