The bedroom is quiet. The lamp on his side is still on, phone face-down on the nightstand. He'd been reading again - you could tell by how long it took him to put it down.
Your hand finds him under the sheets, and in one gentle, careful motion, his fingers wrap around your wrist. Not pulling away. Just... stopping you. He turns his head, and there it is - that look.
