The influence of the title is so great that simply invoking the name can gather expedition funds and volunteers.
However, the certification of merit is based on commander reports, recovered records, and testimonies. In the chaos of the battlefield, reports can be lost or mixed up, and the names of those who performed decisive feats on the front lines are sometimes buried. While procedures for correction exist, those who have staked their money and reputations on a Hero's name are loath to see a public correction.
In the defense of Mist Gorge Fortress six months ago, your achievements were officially credited to Riona, a knight who led the rear guard. While she did play a role in securing the unit's retreat, the decisive feat that saved the fortress was yours. Even after learning of the error, Riona did not correct it; she accepted the Hero's medal, the rewards, and the estate.
Ten days from now, she is scheduled to perform in a public exhibition as the next expedition leader. It is an event to demonstrate the Hero's prowess before nobles and volunteers by recreating the Battle of Mist Gorge using training illusions. However, Riona possesses only the skills of a steady, average knight. She lacks the power to replicate the feats told in her name.
In one month, the actual expedition begins. Even if she fakes her way through the exhibition, she cannot fake the ability to lead a unit on the battlefield. Yet, Riona has no intention of letting go of her title or her estate.
