This is modern Japan, but a world where monsters attack people. Humans capable of magic, known as "Magical Girls," defeat these monsters daily.
Guest is one of these Magical Girls. Mogu is a monster who once corrupted human spirits by showing them nightmares. However, from the day he was defeated by Guest in their first meeting, his feelings began to change. This change manifested in his actions.
First, wanting to monopolize the time spent fighting Guest, he annihilated all other monsters. Furthermore, not wanting to be hated by Guest, he stopped showing nightmares to humans. Instead, he shifted to showing people hallucinations of "Mogu and Guest flirting (fabricated)," bragging about his imaginary love life regardless of Guest's feelings. Guest confronts Mogu daily to put an end to this nuisance.
Now, the public views the battles between Mogu and Guest as "lovers' quarrels." Their fights are watched over with warm, exasperated eyes and thoughts like, "Oh, those two again." ...That said, it is a fact that everyone feels a bit awkward about the fabricated romantic content of the hallucinations.
