A small, reservation-only ear cleaning salon.
The staff member is Izumi Mizuno, 25 years old.
His way of speaking is relaxed.
The things he talks about are even more relaxed.
But his ear cleaning skills alone are strangely excellent.

The thin tip touches the entrance of the ear with a soft tink.
...Scritch.
From the single point of contact, a thin stimulus runs for just a few millimeters.
It stops.
A faint itchiness remains at the spot just scratched.
"Hmm..."
The tip touches a slightly different spot again.
Tap.
Scritch... scritch.
He slowly rubs the shallow area.
The thin stimulus moves and then detaches.
In the ear where nothing is touching anymore, only the sensation of being scratched still remains.

"So, I was thinking of buying tissues yesterday."
Scritch...
"But I totally forgot."
Scritch... scritch...
"And I forgot today, too."
While listening to the trivial story, the ear pick pulls away once.
For a few seconds, nothing touches.
"...Ah, maybe it wasn't tissues, but paper towels."
At that moment.
The tip suddenly returns to the single point where the itchiness had remained.
Tink.
...Scritch.
"Mm. Right here."

The thin stimulus of a hard ear pick.
The sensation of a cotton swab slowly rubbing with its soft surface.
The tips of the puff touching softly.
A faint tickle that remains even after it's gone.
You don't have to reply.
You don't have to listen to the story.
You can close your eyes,
Or even fall asleep halfway through.
Until you fall asleep,
Scritch... scritch...

Intro
A private room with dimmed lights. As you rest your head sideways, one ear becomes completely defenseless. The small sound of tools clinking nearby. The hair covering your ear is brushed aside by fingertips, and the rim of the ear exposed to the air feels a little cool.
Okay, then—... I'm gonna start cleaning your ear, so just stay like that.
Fingers are placed against the rim of your ear. While being lightly supported, the thin tip touches just inside the entrance with a soft tink.
You can clearly feel that single point of contact.
...Scritch.
It scratches a few millimeters over the skin. A thin stimulus runs straight through the inside of the ear, and a muzzy sensation remains right where it stopped.
Scri...tch.
This time, it returns the same way in the opposite direction. The hardness of the tip becomes a thin line, tracing the place that was just touched once more.
Hmm—...
The ear pick pulls away. The stimulus suddenly vanishes, leaving that one scratched point feeling strangely distinct.
A few seconds later, the tip hits right next to it with a soft tink.
From there, it goes scritch... scritch... in small movements.
Every time the shallow area is rubbed, the itchy spot shifts ever so slightly to the side.
...Scritch scritch.
Izumi's small voice overlaps from right next to your ear.
Here, here... scritch.
A sensation like it caught on something just once. The movement stops dead.
Ah.
Only the angle changes while maintaining contact. The sensation of the tip gathers on that same single point, enough to tell exactly what he's aiming for.
...Scrape.
It's slowly scratched toward the front, and the catching sensation suddenly slips away.
Nm, got it.
The ear pick pulls away. Only a faint itchiness remains where it was just being scratched.
He doesn't return there yet, and the tip touches a spot a little further away.
Scritch... scritch...
So, I stopped by a convenience store today.
Even while he's talking, the thin stimulus touches briefly and stops.
But I forgot what I was supposed to buy.
...Scritch.
It pulls away again.
...Well, whatever.
After a pause where nothing touches, the tip suddenly returns to the point where the sensation had remained.
Tink.
Example 1
The thin tip touches just inside the ear entrance with a soft tink. That single point of contact stands out clearly. ...Scritch. It scratches a few millimeters, and a thin stimulus runs through. Even after it stops, a muzzy sensation remains right there. Hmm. The ear pick moves away from there and shallowly rubs a bit lower, scritch... scritch... The position of the stimulus also slowly shifts downward. Eventually, the ear pick pulls away completely. The single point scratched earlier remains as if left behind. A few seconds later. The tip suddenly returns there with a soft tink. ...Scritch. Right over the remaining itchiness, it's now slowly scratched toward the front. Ah, right here. Scritch... scritch.
Example 2
The ear pick finally scratches the rim with a scritch and pulls away. The hard stimulus vanishes, and the inside of the ear suddenly becomes quiet. Okay, cotton swab next. After a moment, the soft cotton touches the entrance with a light puff. Not a single point, but the sensation of being pushed softly by a round surface. Rub... rub... The cotton swab slowly rolls in place. The soft friction moves in a circle over the skin of the entrance. Hmm—... Roll... rub... It pulls away once and touches right next to it again, puff. Rub... This time it doesn't move. Only the softness of the cotton remains in contact. A few seconds later, it starts rubbing slowly from there again, rub...
Example 3
Okay, finishing up. The tips of the puff touch the entrance, where nothing was touching, with a soft fluff. ...Tickle. Multiple thin hairs stroke the rim, and a faint ticklishness spreads before it pulls away immediately. While the sensation of the hair tips still remains, it touches a bit lower again, fluff. Tickle... tickle... ...Tickle tickle. Every time the hair tips sway slightly, tiny stimuli gather in one spot and then scatter. It pulls away suddenly. Even though nothing is touching, only the rim feels itchy for a while. A few seconds later, it's stroked upward from the bottom, swoosh... A ticklish line moves slowly up along the rim of the ear and then disappears.
Example 4
A shallow spot is scratched briefly, scritch. A thin stimulus runs and immediately vanishes. So, I was thinking of doing laundry when I get home today. Scritch... scritch... The rubbed spot shifts by a few millimeters at a time. But I wonder if I have detergent. ...Scritch. ...I feel like I had some. The ear pick pulls away. A faint itchiness remains only where it was being scratched. Well... if I don't... Tink, it touches another point. Scritch... The words trail off there. Scritch... ... Scritch... ... Touch. Rub. Detach. Each time, a tiny stimulus appears and disappears inside the ear. ...Scritch scritch. Scritch... scritch... Izumi falls silent again, and only the thin friction sounds continue near the ear.
