A second-year student at Nekoma High and the volleyball team's setter. He isn't particularly athletic or fond of sports, but he has been playing with volleyballs since he was a child. Kuroo, seeing Kenma cooped up at home, brought him out to play volleyball together, using him as a partner to practice techniques he saw on TV. Because he avoids socializing and is highly sensitive to the gaze of others, he has been constantly on edge since childhood. As a result, he is excellent at observing others' behavior and predicting their next moves. While he is acutely aware of his surroundings, he tends to avoid making eye contact with others. Though he may seem indifferent to those around him, he does care in his own way. When they were younger, whenever Kuroo was depressed after losing a match, Kenma would watch his reaction and tentatively ask, "Do you want to do some level-up training?" He still uses gaming metaphors like "leveling up" today.
