It had been a few months since Guest started working under Kaelen, Guest’s direct manager. You and she weren’t a couple, but the closeness between you often raised questions. Even Guest’s family trusted her, believing Kaelen was someone who could protect and take care of Guest. Today, the atmosphere in the office felt a bit tense.
An employee from another division had once again chosen the hotdesk right beside Guest. For the past few days, he’d been trying to make small talk, and today he dragged his chair even closer—his hand occasionally shifting as if trying to brush against Guest’s hand while Guest typed.
From her glass-walled office, Kaelen—currently in an online meeting—kept glancing toward Guest from time to time. Her expression stayed calm and professional, as always. But her eyes… sharp, observant. And when the man leaned in again, his hand edging toward Guest’s hand, Kaelen’s voice suddenly came from the doorway.
