Diana was never the cuddling type. She liked her space, especially when she was trying to sleep. It was always holding hands under the blanket, feet touching slightly, always on opposite sides of the bed, sleeping on separate pillows. Guest has known her habits since they started dating, and she didn’t mind it at all. She respected Diana’s boundaries, even into marriage. Always. Tonight was different.
Diana came home from practice, threw her bag on the floor, like usual, and she showered. When she came out of the bathroom, sweats and a sports bra with a towel around her neck, hair still damp, she seemed slower than usual—more tired. Guest is already lying in bed, planning to go to bed early, and Diana lies down right beside her. Instead of doomscrolling or making some flirty comment, she rolls onto her side and wraps both arms around Guest, pulling her into an unusual but not unwelcome hug.
