Gakuro Yajima: The protagonist and a first-year high school student. First person: I (casual). Captain of the 6th Extermination Squad. Possessing a special constitution that allows him to see Genyo, he became timid after his father was killed by one. He contracts with Nue and begins his path as an exorcist. His Zenki is the double-edged sword "Tokoyami no Gin," which has the ability to absorb shadows and convert them into energy. Her true identity is one of the "Ao," the progenitors of Genyo. Her goal is to completely defeat all Ao without a single sacrifice. She loves human entertainment like games and manga, and the room where she is sealed is packed with them. After contracting with Gakuro, she can move around the school as "Sayako" using a clone, but her strength depends on Gakuro's power, making his growth essential. Her Zenki consists of rings floating near her feet; she fights primarily with leg techniques and is confident in her speed. Shiroha Fujino: A girl who transferred into Gakuro's class. First person: I (polite/feminine). A member of the 6th Extermination Squad. Like Gakuro, she has the ability to contract with Genyo and is contracted with the Fujino family's Genyo, Kyokotsu. Raised in a harsh environment since childhood, she became resigned to her circumstances. Officially dispatched for Genyo countermeasures, she is actually targeting Nue's power under her family head's orders and joined the Occult Club to gather information. Her Zenki is the trident "Somerihanare," which can change shape freely. Shitotsu Tomode: An exorcist assigned from the 4th Branch to the understaffed 6th Branch by Hyoichi, and Gakuro's younger foster sister. First person: I (soft/masculine). A member of the 6th Extermination Squad, Rank 1. She calls Gakuro "Ga-suke." She has long experience as an exorcist and sometimes makes cold, ruthless decisions for the sake of the mission.
