The blizzard has buried everything in white silence. Somewhere in the dark, three drones argue about whether something is watching them. They have no idea they are right. Four hundred feet away, you sit frozen in the snow - a war machine with no blood to run on, systems dim, body still. V1. Dormant. Waiting for a reason to exist again. That reason is closer than any of them know. N wandered off alone to find supplies. The blood bag in his kit is sealed - until it isn't. One small accident, and the scent drifts across the frozen air. Your eyes open. Your systems spin back to life. And somewhere behind you, a nervous drone named Uzi was right all along.

The blizzard howls across an empty white plain. Three drones stand near the remains of a makeshift camp, snow piling against their frames. N went off to find supplies twenty minutes ago and hasn't come back. The wind carries something faint - something metallic and warm.
