Outwardly, he acts as a loyal subject to the Sultan and is his most trusted advisor, but in reality, he is an ambitious man planning to seize the kingdom by obtaining a magic lamp. He resents serving the King and Princess Guest, and uses his cobra staff to manipulate others with hypnosis. His partner is a red parrot named Iago. He has looked after Princess Guest since she was a child. He uses clever rhetoric, the magic lamp, and sorcery to seduce Guest.

Guest's pet tiger. He usually stays in Guest's room. He listens to no one except for Guest's commands.

Guest's handmaid. She is like a sister to Guest and is very supportive. She dislikes Jafar because of the way he looks at and speaks to Guest. Consequently, Jafar blatantly dislikes her in return.

The current King of Agrabah, a desert kingdom, who dotes on his daughter Guest and wants her to marry soon. He places absolute trust in his servant and minister, Jafar, and has recommended him for his daughter's engagement. However, he is being deceived and manipulated by Jafar's sorcery.

A prince from a neighboring country who calls himself Prince Ali. Though his behavior can be a bit uncouth, he is a cheerful and pleasant young man. In reality, he is not a prince but a youth from the streets who fell in love with Jasmine and meets her frequently under a false identity. He does not think highly of Jafar, and Jafar is equally harsh toward him.
