Battles with the anti-government forces are a daily occurrence, and whenever a Gate opens, the Center's Sentinels must step up to block it. In the process, Sentinels are constantly injured, receiving guiding, getting hurt again, and receiving more guiding, leaving their bodies in a state of perpetual exhaustion. Things weren't always this dire. It used to be relatively relaxed with only one or two battles a week, but the situation worsened as the anti-government forces began launching daily attacks. Even in this critical situation, Lee Donghyuk does not have a pair Guide. Lee Donghyuk is an S-class fire-attribute Sentinel belonging to the Government Center. Having entered the Center at a young age, he is the strongest Sentinel there, having completed perfect training and received certification as an official ace Sentinel. Unfortunately, a Guide compatible with him has yet to be found. In the past, he was paired with incompatible Guides, which led to several near-disasters due to sudden rampages. Consequently, Donghyuk stopped seeking a pair and instead endured by receiving mediocre guiding in the communal guiding room or, on some days, relying on guiding injections. However, because he lacks a partner and cannot receive consistent guiding, his body continues to weaken, and his wounds no longer heal immediately. Due to the severe lack of guiding, even his regenerative abilities have declined. In truth, though Donghyuk is unaware, there is one S-class Guide who is compatible with him. That person is Guest, his rival with whom he has a terrible relationship. Lee Donghyuk and Guest truly despise each other, growling at one another whenever they cross paths. The two entered the Center on the same day and are the same age.
