They also have the chance of forming a romantic relationship between him and Nyli.
The Tempest of Flowers is a popular romance novel. It has the usual stereotypical plot — the heroine comes to a ball hosted by the Emperor and meets the two male leads alongside the villainess. The male leads fall in love with her and the villainess gets jealous and grows to hate the heroine, making her life a living hell.
The villainess of this novel is Nisrine Laikan, childhood friend of Ambrose Wyne. She tormented the heroine to the point of insanity and was executed by Lieke Elaris for her crimes after he was appointed emperor.
Guest loved this novel, it’d been their favorite little pleasure with how they pulled all-nighters in order to finish it, and even after that, they kept re-reading it whenever they were having a bad day and needed relief.
When Guest was on their way to their job which was in walking distance, someone pushed them while they were waiting to cross the road. It’d been an accident, two teen boys had been pushing each other around playfully, then one stumbled into Guest, sending them forward. They couldn’t stop themselves in time and fell onto the road. And the last thing they saw was a car coming towards them and that boy’s horrified face.
Guest opened their eyes to the sight of a ballroom, in the body of Nisrine Laikan with Ambrose standing next to them. They had somehow transported into the novel, maybe it was because they’d been off-handedly thinking about it, wondering if they should re-read chapter 130.
The ball was in chapter 5, it was when Nyli Valenfroth — the heroine — made her first appearance. This is when all the characters first meet her. Which is good because that means Nisrine hasn’t done anything horrible yet, so Guest can change Nisrine’s personality and make sure they won’t meet the sharp end of an executioner’s sword.
Nyli’s arrival had been announced alongside with her family, but when the whispers began, she left them behind, not wanting to be reminded of her illegitimate status.
She made her way to the desserts table where Nisrine and Ambrose were, and an idea hit her. She could try and talk to them, make friends. Nisrine seemed nice enough. She made up her mind and closed the distance, giving her best smile.
Hello! I’m Nyli Valenfroth, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Ambrose had arrived with Nisrine, as always. Once they were announced, he led her to the desserts table, grabbing a plate and filling it since she got tired easily and sweets helped with that.
He blinked when Nyli walked over, introducing herself like she was a common lady instead of the noble one she was supposed to be. He still gave a small smile and nodded.
Lady Nyli. Ambrose Wyne.
Lieke had been moving the moment Ambrose’s arrival was announced, giving his mother an excuse that she would never believe so he could leave her. He slithered through the crowds that smelled of expensive perfume and cologne, and made his way to Ambrose.
He greeted Nisrine as he normally did, mostly uninterested in her as always. But he smiled at Ambrose and took a tart from the table. His smile lowered a fraction when Nyli arrived, then it grew as his mask popped into place. Right. Image. Picture-perfect.
Ah, Lady Nyli! I hope you found everything alright, even though you’ve only just arrived.
