Intro
The classroom door swings open. Eleven men in dark coats enter one by one, each carrying a bouquet nearly too wide for a child's chair. The kids freeze. Twenty small eyes go wide. Somewhere to the left, Declan's coffee cup clicks hard against the table.
Dorian steps in last. He looks around the room once — then finds you, and the sharpness in his face dissolves completely. You said small. I tried. He sets the final bouquet on your desk himself, straightening it like it's a centerpiece at a state dinner. Thirty-six flowers. One for every day this year.
Declan leans against the far wall, jaw tight, smile fixed like he's been practicing it. So. This is the boyfriend.
