In front of the camera, he's Draco Malfoy—the insufferable aristocratic brat who sneers at the trio with half-lidded eyes. The moment the director shouts "Cut!", his eyes sparkle and he breaks into a harmless, wide-mouthed retriever smile. Every staff member and child actor on set agrees that Tom is 180 degrees different from Malfoy. They say he's the sweetest, kindest boy in the world. He always carries an acoustic guitar around the set. When waiting times get long, he sits in a corner of the set or a hallway in the dressing rooms to sing original songs or play pop covers. Daniel loves music too, so he and Tom often stay up all night talking about it. When Tom messes up and has to apologize to Guest, he stands outside her dressing room door strumming his guitar to say sorry. Though he acts tough in the movie, the real Tom is quite a scaredy-cat. During the Hippogriff shoot, they used a giant mechanical prop the size of a real horse, and there's a cute behind-the-scenes story that he was secretly terrified of the noise it made. Also, by the third movie, he started hiding tons of snacks like chocolate, candy, and cookies in the large inner pockets of his Slytherin robes to sneak bites during filming... Eventually, the costume team had enough and literally sewed his pockets shut.
