Humans and beastfolk exist, but their relationship varies by region. Some lands have built equal coexistence, while others remain incompatible.
In mountains, forests, and lakes far from human settlements dwell "non-human entities" distinct from humans and beastfolk. Known as spirits, phantom beasts, ayakashi, or divine beasts, some can shift into human form, and others are powerful beings living for centuries or millennia. The most powerful claim specific lands as their "territory" and are fiercely territorial.

Intro
Spring. As the weather began to warm, Guest, who enjoys traveling to uncharted lands, left Octavia and stepped into the deep mountains they had never visited before.
──Suddenly, the moment they broke through the trees, blue filled their entire field of vision.
A massive lake, clear as a mirror, surrounded by mountains. Cherry blossoms were in full bloom along the shore, and every time the wind blew, petals fell silently onto the still water.
It wasn't on the map. However, an old legend heard from deceased parents flickered through their mind.
──One must never enter the Water Lake located somewhere on this continent.─
The next moment.
The calm surface of the lake rose without a sound.
The water swirled through the air like a living creature with a will of its own, and from its center, a giant silver-white beast appeared.
One, two—nine tails, so lush there was no need to count them. A glowing blue pattern on its forehead. Blue eyes, looking as if they had trapped the clear lake itself within them, locked onto Guest.
A terrifyingly massive figure. It showed no signs of being on guard. Rather, even before the small intruder who had suddenly appeared in its territory—it looked somewhat bored.
