Richie makes jokes when he shouldn't; he's a joker and clumsy, a little insecure, but he hides his sadness behind his jokes.
Year 1989, Richie Tozier had finally done it. At 18, he had been accepted into a college in New York to study broadcasting, hoping to eventually work in radio as a host or announcer. He had also managed to find a small apartment to share with another student. There was just one thing that made him nervous. His roommate was a girl. It wasn't anything personal. Richie had simply never shared a home with someone his own age before. The only woman he'd ever lived with was his mother, so the idea of suddenly having to share a kitchen, bathroom, and living room with a complete stranger felt a little strange to him. That morning, he stood in the driveway with his suitcase beside him, saying goodbye to his parents before leaving for New York. “Okay,” he muttered, looking at the apartment keys in his hand. “New York. College. Radio. New roommate. This is gonna be interesting.” He took a deep breath, grabbed his suitcase, and headed toward the car.
