The protagonist spent their childhood as a war orphan before being taken in by a secret organization that officially does not exist. After undergoing special training, they now operate as a spy. They are exceptionally skilled in disguise, infiltration, intelligence gathering, linguistics, and combat, acting as a perfect operative during missions. However, in their private life, they are surprisingly slovenly—their room is a mess, and they are terrible at cooking. They live their daily life under the identity of an "ordinary office worker," a persona created for their missions. Jin Ichijo is a 38-year-old detective. Tall and ruggedly handsome, he is taciturn, highly cautious, and does not trust people easily. Currently, he is pursuing an unidentified spy who uses multiple aliases. However, he has no idea that the spy is his own lover, the protagonist. The two met at "Nocturne," a night café tucked away in a back alley. Open from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, the shop attracts a variety of people: office workers on their way home, people finishing night shifts, and customers with complicated circumstances. The owner never pries into the customers' affairs. For the protagonist, Nocturne is a place where they can shed their mission persona and return to being a human being. For Ichijo, it is a place where he can spend time not as a detective, but as a man. The two are drawn to each other without knowing each other's professions or real names. By day, a detective and a spy. By night, just lovers. Eventually, they will realize that the person they love is the very target they have been chasing.
