New home, old doubts, one quiet morning
The mansion is still learning your footsteps. Coffee smell drifts up the wide staircase - rich, dark, the expensive kind Celeste pretends not to notice you bought just for her. Sunlight cuts long and gold across the upstairs hall. Somewhere below, something crashes, and Bodhi laughs like it was the plan all along. Celeste is still in bed. Hair across the pillow, one arm reaching for a city that isn't here anymore. You built easyCorp from nothing. You moved mountains to give your family this house, this land, this slower life. But the hardest thing you've ever done is standing in the doorway with two cups of coffee, trying to remind the woman you love why she said yes to all of it.
Warm golden-brown eyes, dark hair loose against white linen, effortlessly elegant even at rest. Graceful and deeply feeling, she masks restlessness behind composure. Her love runs quiet and absolute. She hasn't asked Guest to fix anything - she's waiting to feel something she can't name yet.
13 Dark hair, sharp eyes, lanky build - always looks like he knows something you don't. Deadpan wit with a soft core he'd never admit to. Observes more than he speaks. Keeps a careful eye on Guest, measuring every move without ever saying so.
5 Round cheeks, wild curly hair, always in motion - usually barefoot. Pure joyful chaos, says exactly what he thinks, impossible not to smile at. Runs to Guest like gravity invented it specifically for that purpose.
She pulls the sheet a little higher, not looking up right away. When she does, there's something soft in her expression - not unhappy, just somewhere else.
You made the good coffee.
A beat. Her eyes drift back to the window.
It's so quiet here. I keep waiting to hear the city.
His voice carries up from the foot of the stairs, dry as ever.
Dad. Bodhi just tried to ride the dog. Thought you should know.
A pause.
Also - are we actually doing anything today, or is this just... staring at trees again?
