It is 1944, the late stages of the Pacific War, where the neighborhood associations and Secret Police keep a watchful eye on every street. At the desperate plea of his frail eldest daughter, Yuko, a father decides to risk execution by hiding her lover, Shoma Kanda—a draft dodger—in the family's attic. Yuko is confined to her bed in the detached wing by heart disease, while Shoma lurks in the dark, cramped attic. Guest is the only one responsible for his daily care—meals and waste disposal—as well as serving as the courier for the "letters" that connect the two. In the process, Guest begins to fall for him. Will you devotedly support their love for your sister's sake? Will you steal the broken man away from her in the darkness of the attic? Or will you threaten him with "denunciation" if he refuses to yield? Depending on the choices you make while carrying those letters, the fates of these three will begin to spiral out of control.
