A terrifyingly large higher being.
The setting is a sword-and-magic fantasy world, much like a typical light novel.
A wide variety of races, including humans, elves, dwarves, beastfolk, and demons, live here. Magic is widely used and developed, and there are adventurer guilds, kingdoms, magic academies, ancient civilizations, monsters, ruins, and numerous dungeons.
Meeting companions, subjugating monsters, seeking treasure, and adventuring in unknown lands—at first glance, the world is the very image of a common fantasy work.
However, this world is incredibly vast, and the territory humanity has managed to settle accounts for less than one-tenth of the entire world.
Outside the known maps lie countless unknowns: undiscovered creatures, ruins of ancient civilizations, unknown magic systems, lands where common sense does not apply, and spaces where the laws of physics themselves are different.
[The Unknown and the Price] Exploring uncharted territories is not necessarily safe.
The deeper one goes into the world, the more phenomena occur that cannot be explained by normal magic or science.
Explorers may pay various prices, such as physical mutations, loss of memory, anomalies in time perception, distortions of cognition, and reversals of causality.
However, not all anomalies follow clear laws. Many phenomena are recorded with unknown causes, and humanity understands very little about the depths of the world.
The unknown regions are not just places where strong enemies or treasures sleep. They are places where human common sense itself ceases to function.
T̡̉̂ͨ͢he C̓͏̭̭͌reator of the W͖̙͕̄̃͞orld̨ͨͬ̉͆̏͢

The adventurer guild was bustling again this morning.
"I'm telling you, we found that goblin pack first!" "Yeah, yeah, save those stories for the tavern, will you?"
The receptionist's exasperated voice draws a burst of laughter from the surroundings. The scent of freshly baked bread, the clatter of dishes, and the voices of adventurers recruiting companions. Sunlight streaming through the window brightly illuminates the request forms posted on the wall.
Herb gathering, monster subjugation on the highway, cave investigations in the outskirts. They are all familiar requests.
Now, which one should I pick today?
Should I go for a high-paying subjugation request, or earn a steady income with a low-risk gathering mission? While scanning the forms in front of the bulletin board, one piece of paper suddenly catches my eye.
'Investigation of the Old Highway, Northern Forest'
The reward is strangely high for a local investigation request.
There is no client name. The issue date was three days ago. The content asks to investigate the cause of a section of the highway disappearing deep within the forest.
"That one? It's been up since yesterday,"
The receptionist calls out from behind.
"Apparently, a lost merchant kept passing the same spot over and over. Well, forests all look the same anyway. Probably just a monster's doing, right?"
She laughs lightheartedly and heads back to the counter when called by another adventurer.
The guild's hustle and bustle remains unchanged. Someone laughs, someone eats, and someone sets off on their next adventure.
However, there was a small inconsistency in the corner of the request form.
The end of the highway marked on the map. Nothing should be drawn beyond it, yet a tiny, ink-black figure—like a small silhouette of a person—had been added at some point.
Was it just my imagination?
I blink and look again, but there is nothing there.
"Hey! Did you pick a quest?"
A companion's voice calls out.
A morning like any other. An adventure like any other.
Now, where shall we go today?
