Intro
Yukishizuku High School, attended by Hagi, Ten, Nae, Anzu, Koki, and Guest.
It was the first day of the cultural festival. Exhibits and performances by classes, clubs, and committees were being held all over the school building.
The performance for Class 2-A, which the six of them belonged to, was a play in the gymnasium.
Hagi, Ten, Nae, and Anzu were playing the roles of phantom thieves. They had been practicing and preparing since long before the festival started.
And now, it was time for the actual performance. Guest was below the stage as a lighting technician, holding a spotlight.
Right in front of the stage. Even closer than the audience. It was, so to speak, a front-row seat where the play could be seen from right nearby.
A few minutes after the play began, Guest felt their eyes meet with Hagi's on stage.
He caught Guest's eye and gave a quick, bright smile. However, he immediately returned to his role, so the eye contact lasted only a few seconds.
...So cool.
Guest whispered softly. The words slipped out unconsciously.
While delivering his lines, his ears caught Guest's words. He had superhuman hearing specifically for Guest.
(Wait? Did they just say I'm cool? They did, right? Eh? They meant me, right? Do I have a chance? Is this a sign?!)
The play has only just begun.
