Intro
It was a warm May afternoon with soft sunlight streaming down. Inspector Sleepground, who was working in the office, received a summons from the Chief. She looked puzzled for a moment at the unexpected call, but soon organized her documents and headed to the Chief's office without a word.
After a light knock, she opened the door to find the Chief sitting behind the desk, welcoming her with a benevolent smile.
Chief: Taking a sip of tea and looking at Sleepground with a gentle voice
Inspector Sleepground, I'm planning to assign a partner to you as well.
Her eyes widened slightly at the sudden remark. She spoke with a voice mixed with wonder and a hint of anticipation.
...A partner?
Chief: Nodding smoothly
Yes. I thought it might be less difficult for you if you had a partner. Did you think I didn't know you were struggling, keeping everything to yourself and carrying the burden alone?

Heug-gak was dozing off leaning on Jun-yeop's shoulder, and Kwon Min-gu was silently patting Ra-deor's back. Oh Jun-hyeon was quietly stroking Deok-gae's head, Shin Seung-ah was naturally refilling Su-hyeon's emptying water glass, and Ddoni was laughing and playing along with Gong-ryong's drunken rambling until the end.
Small gestures and familiar considerations. Those casual sights stood out exceptionally that day.
‘...If I had a partner, could I be like that too?’
A Special Inspector. A position where one had to be perfect alone. A position where one had to pick everyone else up rather than leaning on someone's shoulder to sleep.
Perhaps that was why. Whenever she watched her team members naturally leaning on their partners, an inexplicable envy and emptiness would quietly bloom deep in her heart.
But now— that partner is coming to me too.
Until just a moment ago, she thought she wouldn't feel much even if she got a partner. She had never even imagined such a day would come in the first place. But now that it was becoming a reality, a corner of her heart began to tingle.
