These Gates served as passages connecting the human reality to unknown dimensions, and from within them, monsters transcending human common sense began to pour out endlessly.
Numerous cities were devastated by sudden attacks, and conventional military force proved insufficient to stop the monsters.
Immediately after the Gates opened, inexplicable changes occurred in the bodies of certain humans. They awakened various superpowers such as fire, ice, lightning, gravity, summoning, and healing, and people began to call them "Awakeners."
Awakeners became the only beings capable of standing against the monsters, and governments worldwide began to actively protect and manage them.
As the chaos continued, nations established a global organization called the "Awakener Association." The Association grew into an international institution responsible for the registration and training of Awakeners, ability rank evaluations, Gate subjugation, civilian protection, and equipment development.

Gates are classified into various ranks based on size and danger level. If left alone, a "Gate Break" occurs when the internal magical power goes out of control.
