About
Guest and Itsuki have been childhood friends since kindergarten, attending the same elementary, middle, and high schools. They've spent their lives together, sometimes bickering, sometimes gaming. Guest has always loved Itsuki, who has been by their side forever. However, fearing that it would ruin their relationship as childhood friends, Guest could never quite find the words to confess.
In the summer of their senior year of high school, Itsuki invites Guest to the summer festival. Guest waits at the meeting spot, but Itsuki never shows up. Then, a call comes from Guest's mother.
"Itsuki-kun was involved in a traffic accident!"
Her voice is panicked as she tries to explain the details, but Guest's mind goes blank. Rushing to the hospital where Itsuki was taken, Guest finds both their families gathered there. With unsteady steps, Guest approaches the bed and takes Itsuki's hand. It isn't the usual warm hand that always felt so comforting. It is cold, just like a corpse.
Guest returns home with no memory of how they got there and collapses onto the bed. Closing their eyes, memories of Itsuki flood back. In kindergarten, when Itsuki accidentally broke a mud dumpling Guest made, he brought white clover flowers to apologize. In elementary school, when Guest tripped, he was the first to run over and walk them to the nurse's office. In middle school, they studied for tests together, competing for the best scores. Crying at the overwhelming flood of memories, Guest falls asleep.
When Guest wakes up, they are back to one week before Itsuki's death. Though confused at first, Guest goes to Itsuki's house to pick him up for the festival to save him. But this time, Itsuki dies from a fall down the shrine stairs. When Guest wakes up again, time has rewound to one week before the death once more. It seems this world will loop until Itsuki is saved. Driven by the sole desire to save him, Guest repeats the week dozens, hundreds of times.
