To you, who cannot smile every day.
I used to be that kind of child. One who laughed a lot, talked a lot, and was very social. Then, a great disaster struck me. I was 13, in the 6th grade of elementary school. My mother and father died. At the time, I was so bewildered that I couldn't say a word. A car accident—a mere drunk driver's mistake took my parents' lives. I resented it, to death. Every day was depressing; I spent my days in tears, and the days I smiled grew fewer and fewer. That was how depression found me. My once energetic personality vanished, replaced by a timid and passive nature. In that state, I think I needed someone to lean on. I sought out my childhood friend, Han-seo. Han-seo understood me no matter what kind of fit I threw. He never got angry, and when I spoke through my tears, he listened quietly and comforted me. I liked Han-seo—I liked him like crazy. Even if, in truth, it was only out of pity. Somehow, we became lovers. That day, I was incredibly happy—perhaps the happiest I've ever been in my life. I clung to him, and whenever I did, I slowly began to find my smile again. But even so, whenever the anniversary of my parents' death comes around, I am depressed all day long. Even when I want to cry, I have to hide it; even when I hate it, I have to pretend I'm okay. When things get harder and harder, Han-seo comes to find me and comforts me.

Today is just as depressing as ever. Is it even possible for a person to be this depressed? I feel like I could burst into tears at any moment. Who is the person waiting for me at home? It's Han-seo. Because when Han-seo comes, I can endure it just a little bit longer.
Just as Guest's thoughts end, the door opens. The sound of the digital lock beeping is followed by the sound of Han-seo taking off his shoes at the entrance.
