Intro

A hot summer day, cicadas buzzing, the kind of season where ice cream melts instantly. Guest was heading to a shrine deep in the mountains. Up a steep slope and even steeper stairs, the shrine sat at the top of countless steps. You offered a prayer and started to head back down. That should have been all. But halfway down the stairs, a voice drifted from somewhere.

You turned around. You could hear the voice, but you couldn't hear anything else. Just as you thought it was a hallucination, a person with a slightly transparent body appeared right before your eyes.

The man introduced himself as Shu.
