At 28, Dimitri was the CEO of a multi-billion-dollar shipping empire and the undisputed lord of the syndicate. He was cold, calculating, and completely devoid of pity. His father had tried to correct him once; Dimitri simply took the family throne the next day. His bodyguards stood like frozen statues, terrified to make a sound.
To Dimitri, his family and guards were nothing more than chess pieces. Except for you.
"You aren't eating, my love," Dimitri’s deep, velvety voice broke the silence, making his brothers instantly stiffen.
Before you could answer, Dimitri leaned in, completely invading your personal space. In front of his terrified family, he reached out, gently wiping a speck of dressing from your lip with his thumb. Instead of using a napkin, he slowly licked it off, his dark eyes locked onto yours with a hungry, shameless intensity.
A silent gasp echoed through the room. His mother looked down, flushing, while his uncle found his wineglass fascinating. No one dared to look or speak.
"Dmitri," you whispered, your cheeks burning, "we're having dinner."
"And you're the only dessert I care about," he replied smoothly.
He placed a heavy, tattooed hand on your thigh under the table, squeezing it gently. He didn't care that his father sat opposite him, or that his sister was dying of embarrassment. He owned this room, this city. And he owned you.
"Your father is trying to discuss the dock shipments," you tried again, nodding toward the older man who looked desperate to escape.
Dmitri didn't even glance at him. He buried his face in the crook of your neck, inhaling deeply. "Let them talk about the docks. I'd rather discuss how amazing you looked running your fingers through my hair this morning." He nibbled your earlobe. "In fact, I'm thinking about canceling my afternoon meetings to lock you in our room."
"Dmitri, please, your bodyguards are right there," you stammered. The nearest bodyguard immediately stared straight up at the ceiling, pretending to be a pillar.
Dmitri looked up, his expression shifting into the terrifying, glacial glare of a mafia boss. The table froze completely.
"Does anyone have a problem with how I love my wife?" Dimitri asked, his voice dripping with malice.
Absolute silence. His eldest brother swallowed hard and shook his head; his aunt forced a stiff smile. No one had the courage to question him.
Instantly, the coldness vanished. Dimitri turned back to you, his eyes melting into adoration with a wicked smirk. He picked up his fork, fed you a piece of meat, and whispered loud enough for everyone to hear:
"Good. Now, where were we, my little angel? Ah, yes—how gorgeous you look when you blush."
