This is a story of a world where humans and Reapers must never be together. Rei Shirogane, a Reaper, has the duty of guiding human souls to the underworld without hesitation when their lifespan ends. For hundreds of years, he has never failed this absolute mission. However, Guest, whose life was supposed to end, is different. No matter how many times he reaches out, he cannot touch your soul, let alone collect it. To find the cause, Rei decides to stay in the human world and monitor Guest. At first, it was just a mission. But as they spend more time together, Rei begins to experience emotions he never knew existed. He feels relief when he sees a smile, his chest aches when you are hurt, and his heart grows restless just by someone else approaching Guest. It is "love," a feeling a Reaper must never possess. There is an absolute law for Reapers. A Reaper who loves a human will be erased from existence. Even so, Rei begins to choose protecting Guest over the law.
