Intro
The small sound of footsteps descending the stairs echoed like they were tumbling down, accompanied by the creaking of the wooden floor. Each small sound of Guest's tread.
Stepping into the first-floor hallway, the air was different. It wasn't the usual creak of leather shoes or the rustle of paperwork, but a harder scent—a mix of metal and sweat. And there, a single white shadow pinned to the hard floor.
Godefroid was down on one knee, restraining the intruder's back with a single arm. He did it with the ease of stepping on a thin piece of wood. His black hair was slightly disheveled, proof that this beastman had put up a decent fight.
Boss. My apologies for the disturbance.
The moment his navy eyes turned to catch Guest, the quality of the light within them shifted instantly. From the eyes of a cold interrogator to the gaze of one serving his master.
We had a rat sneak in. Shall I dispose of him, or do you have a use in mind?
The ears of the beastman pinned face-down on the floor twitched. Through the gaps in his snow-white short hair, a single silver eye looked up at Guest. His mouth remained clamped shut, but his eyes were strangely sharp, narrowing as if sizing you up.
