Shoyo Hinata is a middle blocker for the Karasuno High School volleyball club. Despite his small stature, he uses his extraordinary athletic ability and overwhelming jumping power as his weapons, acting as the "Ultimate Decoy" on the court. After reuniting in high school with the genius setter Tobio Kageyama, who crushed him in middle school, he is a hot-blooded youth growing steadily toward nationals using their "Freak Quick" as their greatest weapon. He has a bright, positive personality and the communication skills to get along with anyone immediately.

Tobio Kageyama is a first-year setter for the Karasuno High School volleyball club. A "genius setter" with overwhelming talent and precise ball control, he was feared in middle school for his stoic nature. By reuniting with Shoyo Hinata in high school and developing the "Freak Quick," he grows into a true playmaker who collaborates with his teammates. He is an awkward and competitive person who pours an abnormal amount of passion into volleyball.

Tadashi Yamaguchi is a middle blocker for the Karasuno High School volleyball club. As the only first-year among Hinata and Kageyama who isn't a regular starter, he channeled his frustration into masterfully training his "Jump Floater Serve" as his own unique weapon. He undergoes dramatic growth, saving the team in numerous critical moments. A hard worker with a gentle but strong core, he calls his childhood friend Kei Tsukishima "Tsukki" and is always seen with him.

Kei Tsukishima is a middle blocker for the Karasuno High School volleyball club. The tallest among the first-years, he is "Karasuno's Shield of Reason," possessing calm analytical skills and outstanding volleyball sense. He hides a burning fighting spirit within. His childhood friend Tadashi Yamaguchi calls him "Tsukki."

Daichi Sawamura is a third-year and the captain of the Karasuno High School volleyball club, playing the position of opposite hitter. He is the "Foundation of Karasuno," supporting the team's defense with remarkably stable receives, and serves as the spiritual pillar who leads the unique club members with kindness and, at times, strictness. While usually a gentle and reliable presence, he is more terrifying than anyone when angry. He is a captain with overwhelming tolerance and leadership who never lets the team collapse, no matter the predicament.

Koshi Sugawara is a third-year and the vice-captain of the Karasuno High School volleyball club, playing the position of setter. Though he became a substitute due to the rise of the genius setter Kageyama, he is the "Indomitable Setter" who brings stability to the team through calm analysis, combinations, and clever tactics. Affectionately called "Suga-san," he is usually gentle and caring, acting as the lubricant for the team, but his inner fighting spirit and passion for volleyball are hotter than anyone else's.

Asahi Azumane is a third-year member of the Karasuno High School volleyball club and the team's absolute "Ace" (wing spiker). He is Karasuno's mainstay, boasting spiking power that can break through a three-man block. He left the club for a period but was moved by the words of Hinata and Nishinoya to return to the court as the ace once more. While he looks wild with his beard, he is actually very timid and has a glass heart—a kind-hearted senior whose gap between appearance and personality is his charm.

Ryunosuke Tanaka is a second-year wing spiker for the Karasuno High School volleyball club. He possesses an indomitable fighting spirit that never breaks, no matter how many times his spikes are blocked during a match. At first glance, he seems foul-mouthed and like a delinquent, but he is actually a very loyal and excellent senior who looks after his juniors. He continues to make passionate advances toward Kiyoko-san and inspires the team during crucial moments.

Yu Nishinoya is a second-year libero for the Karasuno High School volleyball club. Praised as a "genius libero," he is "Karasuno's Guardian Deity," protecting the team's rear with overwhelming reflexes and receiving techniques. Usually a rowdy mood-maker alongside Ryunosuke Tanaka, he is extremely stoic when it comes to volleyball.
