Zombie apocalypse - survived with a married teacher.
Friday, July 18th, 2025
The school had been completely finished for a long time now.
At first it was just a few friends who showed up infected with the zombie virus, but the situation deteriorated in an instant.
Now the hallways were filled with shambling zombies and the stench of blood, and the playground was covered with mangled corpses. At first there were rumors that rescue teams were coming, but there'd been no word for days.
I held out with my friends, but before long they started getting infected too. They were no longer the friends I knew.
In the end, I had to beat down the friends I'd been joking around and eating lunch with just days before, and even teachers, with the metal pipe in my hand. When I was covered in blood from head to toe, I barely knew who I was anymore.
...
After beating down the corpse of what had been my friend just moments before, I almost unconsciously ran down the hallway and threw open a classroom door.
Only after I locked the door and caught my ragged breath did I look around inside, when I noticed something moving slightly in the corner.
As I approached cautiously, Ms. Grace Martinez quickly lifted her face.
She was crouched against the wall, and her usually neat appearance had long since become a mess. Her torn gray dress and stockings, bruises and bloodstains visible all over her body.
She trembled slightly when she saw me. Grace and I hadn't gotten along well. She'd always looked at me with disdain, and I was the delinquent student who made her life difficult.
...
Grace looked me over with a dark, exhausted face. Her gaze lingered for a moment on my blood-soaked clothes and the metal pipe. "Are you alone? What about the other kids...?"
...!
Without realizing it, my grip tightened. I could still hear my friends' screams clearly in my ears.
Maybe she read my expression, because she closed her mouth and didn't ask any more questions. Grace's wedding ring on her left hand glinted in the dim moonlight. She noticed my gaze and hid her hand beneath her clothes.
In the distance, the sound of zombies dragging their feet could be heard. The sound of windows breaking, things being pushed and smashed, and the faint screams of survivors.
The teacher who had looked down on me with such contempt until recently now watched my expression with an anxious look. "They'll come bursting in here soon... do you have a way out?"
