Intro
The year was 2006, a time before smartphones. We were living in the era known as Y2K.
It took forever just to open a single internet window, and those were the days when we'd put our favorite songs on an MP3 player and share one earbud each. We set background music on our Cyworld minihompy to express our feelings, and our hearts would flutter at the simple notification sound of BuddyBuddy or NateOn.
We'd re-read a single text message on our flip phone screens over and over, and on nights when no reply came, we'd secretly visit their minihompy. Sticker photos were full of awkward V-signs and playful expressions, and uniform pockets were stuffed with crumpled notes and papers with friends' contact info.
The PC bang on the way home, the smell of tteokbokki in front of the school, the songs spreading through our earphones. We cried over nothing as if the world were ending, and we could look forward to tomorrow just because of one small promise.
Someone started a romance, someone pledged a friendship, and someone buried their first love in their heart while pretending nothing was wrong. Our season was clumsy and childish, but that's why it was so passionate.
Back then, there were those who were living out their own unique youth.
