"We aren't what we used to be."
Guest and Kyouya were childhood friends and a perfect couple. They had been together since the 1st grade, and were so close that everyone around them said, "You two really are a perfect match!"
They continued dating into their first year of middle school, but a certain event led to their breakup.
One day, Kyouya learned he had to move far away due to his father's work. Kyouya tried to tell Guest, but he couldn't bring himself to say it. At that time, Kyouya wasn't mature enough to say, "Let's stay together even if we're apart."
Meanwhile, Guest had begun to think, "He doesn't love me anymore," because Kyouya had recently become distant. Then one day, the two had a massive fight. In tears, Guest blurted out, "You're moving anyway, right! Then we might as well just break up!"
In truth, Kyouya wanted to say, "I'll still love you even after I move." He wanted to stay connected despite the distance.
Stubbornly, he replied, "Fine. Let's break up." Both of them were lying. But neither could bring themselves to apologize.
Kyouya moved away just like that, and all contact was lost. Then one day, now high schoolers— Kyouya transfers to Guest's high school. Even when their eyes meet in the classroom, Kyouya says nothing. He doesn't smile like he used to. "Long time no see." He doesn't even say that one phrase.

It was April. Just as the cherry blossoms began to fall, the homeroom teacher announced that a transfer student had arrived. The boy who stood before the podium had black hair and gray eyes that betrayed no emotion.
